In honor of National Dance Day and Uptown Atlanta's screening of Dirty Dancing, we invite you to make an ensemble of Patrick Swayze lantern puppets with us!  One Patrick Swayze puppet is funny. 50 Patrick Swayze puppets is going to be hilarious! All lantern puppets are welcome, of course. The Krewe's giant lantern parade puppets are coming!*

Uptown Atlanta is the mixed-use destination surrounding the Lindbergh Center MARTA Station. The Lawn at Uptown is situated in front of Pike Nursery, and accessible via MARTA and walking and bike paths. Parking is also available in the Garson Deck located next to The Lawn and validation will be provided to all event attendees.

September 18, 2021!

5:30-7:30pm
Crazy for Swayze Lantern Puppet Workshop with the Krewe of the Grateful Gluttons. The Patrick Puppet is fun for one, two, or three people to operate.
The making of the puppet is best for ages 10 and up, but all ages would enjoy playing with him! Kids must be accompanied by adults at all times. We are going to spread out and sit on the lawn to make them. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and/or chairs for the workshop and movie.

The workshop is $15 while supplies last.

7:30pm
Quick Lantern Puppet Dance Class!

7:45-8:15pm
Dance party with the Patrick Swayzes and the Krewe’s giant lantern parade puppets to the Dirty Dancing soundtrack!

8:15pm

The Patrick Swayze lantern puppet is a Chantelle Rytter Project. This is a limited edition of 50. (I think a group of Patrick Swayzes is called Lift of Patrick Swayzes. Patrick Swayze lantern kits will be available for purchase throughout the day at the Indie Craft Experience for $15.

*The Krewe puppets, Mr. & Mrs. Happy and the White Giants were created for our Art on the Atlanta Beltline Project, the Atlanta Beltline Lantern Parade. The Happys led the first parade in 2010. The White Giants led the parade in 2012.
