Thank you to everyone who came to Rex's Lantern Jazz Funeral!
It was good.
Our capacity to grieve is a direct reflection of our capacity to love. Our capacity to love is our species finest trait. It was good to grieve together, to laugh and dance and weep in the streets, and be reminded that our collective character is deeply loving. Thank you, I needed that.
I built Rex's lantern puppet when I thought he was dying in 2018. He rallied for a few more years. Rex was performed in the Decatur and Beltline Lantern Parades.
